Concerns various mammals and feathered gamebirds. Game animals include roe, hare, deer and wild boar. In Greece hunting is very limited and domestic production is minimal. 90% of the game available on the market comes from Germany, Holland and Italy. Bird hunting only takes place during a specific time of the year, defined by law. Gamebird meat contains much less fat than poultry and is easy to digest. Before consumption all gamebirds - with the exception of wild ducks and geese - must be allowed to hang for several days in a well-ventilated area.
