Tips for doughs which contain yeast, such as bread or pizza dough

Doughs which contain yeast, such as pizza dough or bread dough require some delicate techniques which, if performed incorrectly, may not produce the desired results.

Some tips include:

  • The water used to make dough must be warm, not cold.
  • The yeast must be diluted in warm water and allowed to activate.
  • If adding salt to the dough, mix it in with the yeast or the flour before adding the water.
  • The longer the dough is kneaded, the fluffier it becomes.
  •  Dough needs to be allowed to rest in a warm, damp place. Then, it must be kneaded again to let the air out and so that the dough can return to its true size.
